Six years later, Andover double murder remains unsolved

It has been six years since John and Geraldine Magee were found dead in their Andover mansion, yet the unsolved murder remains an active investigation. This past Wednesday, Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett and current Andover police Chief Patrick Keefe called on anyone with information related to the murder, including the couple’s car that was found burning in the North End the night before they were discovered, to please come forward, the Eagle Tribune has the full story.

North End Food Crawl: Oysters and Pizza and Calamari and Arancini

Eater Boston has brought back its Food Crawls, a series where Eater Boston staffers virtually guide guests on various food crawls throughout the Boston area. Saturday, December 16:

10:00AM Dog Park Opening Event at DelFlippo Park. The winter opening of the North End’s new dog park will take place at the DeFilippo Playground at the Prince Street Park. The park will be fully functional all season and there will be a grand opening in the spring to showcase the water features for the warmer months.

10:30AM I Piccoli Lettori. Join I AM Books at 189 North Street for its Italian reading group for children ages 0-4. Parents are encouraged to engage in multiple readings and games for a fun morning of Italian language and learning.

12:00PM “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” for charity. Join WZLK-FM in Faneuil Hall as a number of organizations get together for charity. The event will feature a blood drive with the American Red Cross, photos with Santa, entertainment by Greater Boston School of Dance and Life of the Party, and toy bins set up for donations to the New England Patriots Toy Drive.

6:00PM Italian Christmas Concert at Sacred Heart Church. Join the Saint Leonard Choral Society and the North End Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Dan Drzymalski for its Annual Christmas Concert at Sacred Heart Church in North Square, see the full event posting here.

6:30PM Boston Tea Party Reenactment. The 244th Boston Tea Party Anniversary & Annual Reenactment is an opportunity for the public to experience one of America’s most iconic public protests live. Presented by the Old South Meeting House and the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum, the event will feature re-enactors from across New England to tell the historic story and dramatize the evening of December 16, 1773, see additional details here.

12:00PM Gingerbread House Decorating Fun at RE/MAX Luxury Living. Join RE/MAX Luxury Living at 169 Salem Street as they support Toys for Tots while children and families have the opportunity to decorate their own gingerbread houses, see full event details here.

12:00PM Mass with Cardinal O’Malley to Bless Reopening of St. Leonard’s Church. Join St. Leonard’s Church at 320 Hanover Street as Cardinal Sean O’Malley will lead the Mass for a blessing as the church reopens after its extensive interior restoration.

2:00PM Santa Arrives by Helicopter at Puopolo Park. Santa Clause will be making his annual helicopter ride from the North Pole to the North End. Join Santa and his friends at Puopolo Park on Commercial Street and sing along to your Christmas & holiday favorites, see additional event details here.

3:00PM Santa Skate Toy Drive at Steriti Skating Rink. Join the Columbus Day Committee for their annual Santa Skate Toy Drive at 561 Commercial Street. Enjoy skating, music, caroling, face painting, refreshments and more. Attendees are asked to bring an unwrapped toy for a child (13 and younger) for the toy drive.

4:30PM Candlelit Labyrinth Peace Walk at Armenian Heritage Park. Come together on common ground in peace and harmony at the Rose Kennedy Greenway. Walk the candlelit labyrinth, tie a ribbon on the wishing tree, enjoy an a cappella performance as well as a meet and greet with refreshments, see the full event posting here.

Edible Snow Towers at the North End Library

Join the North End Library at 25 Parmenter Street for December activities that are guaranteed to chase away the cold. This upcoming Thursday’s event will be building edible snow towers with marshmallows and toothpicks, continue reading.

Baby Time with Miss Becca at the North End Library

This upcoming January, join Miss Becca from Boston Community Collaborative for Baby Time on Fridays from 10:00 – 10:45am. The program for babies 0-18 months will explore stories, rhymes and music, continue reading.
