Residents Association Supports 33 N. Margin Street Changes

The North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) voted 17-2 to support variances related to 33 North Margin Street. Located at the corner of Cooper Street, the plans were presented by Attorney Daniel Toscano, as follows.

(1) enclose the existing first floor entryway, formerly the entrance of Joe and Mary’s convenience store, encompassing 8 square feet.

(2) increase the living space of the fourth floor unit into the existing fifth floor space.

(3) add to the existing head house.

(4) install a new roof deck for the exclusive use of the top floor unit.

The 4 family building has been recently renovated. The variances are geared toward expanding living space for the top unit. The building height will be increasing by 2 feet from to 51 feet and 5 inches. The renovations of the rooftop storage room will come out 2′ 3″ to add about 25 sq. ft. of space. The roof deck will be approximately 100 sq. ft. of space. In answer to a question, Toscano indicated the roof deck will be set back from the edge of the building.
