10:00AM City Council Committee on Homelessness, Mental Health & Recovery. A working session for the Boston City Council to collaborate with the Boston State Delegation regarding approaches to tackling the opioid crisis will take place in the Curley Room at City Hall on the 5th floor. Al Natale of Belmont celebrates his 95th birthday conducting what he says will be his final concert
Al Natale, retired professional trumpet player, conductor of his own classic swing orchestra, and a frequent to many North End restaurants and venues, celebrated his 95th birthday last month and recently conducted what he said will be his final public concert with a function room full of fans, read the full story on Bridgewater East.

Tuesday, September 25th
6:30PM An Evening with “Beguiled” Author Karma Kitaj. The West Eng Museum will host an evening with author Karma Kitaj at 150 Saniford Street including short reading of passages from the book followed by an author interview conducted by Lucia, and an audience Q&A session. Light refreshments will be served, and Kitaj will sell and autograph copies of the book for guests. The event is free and open to the public.
7:00PM Sept. ZLC Meeting. Stop by Mariner’s House at 11 North Square for this month’s ZLC meeting. The agenda features the building at 276-282 Hanover Street that was damaged by a major fire in November 2017. Federal Investments, Inc. has applied to change the occupancy from 16 residential units to 20 as part of the renovations, see additional details here.
Wednesday, September 26th
6:00PM Farm-to-KITCHEN Cooking Class: Classic Greek Flavors. he KITCHEN at the Boston Public Market is honored to welcome James Beard Award Winner and Top Chef Masters contestant Chef Jody Adams for a very special hands-on cooking experience. In Chef Adams’ class, attendees will learn to make traditional Greek cuisine, see additional details here.
6:30PM Author Talk: Carmine Vittoria. Carmine Vittoria stops by the North End Library at 25 Parmenter Street and discusses his book, Bitter Chicory to Sweet Espresso: Survival and Deliverance from WWII in the Naples, Italy, Area 1940-49, which relates events of WWII as witnessed by the author as a child, see additional details here.
6:30PM Kerstin and the Giant Manta Rays: Film screening and Q & A. Stop by the Simons IMAX Theater at 1 Central Wharf to see the film Kerstin and the Giant Manta Rays features Peruvian marine scientist and social entrepreneur Kerstin Forsberg and her pioneering efforts to protect giant oceanic manta rays in Peru. To save these enigmatic species, which are globally threatened by overfishing and bycatch, Forsberg and her team at Planeta Océano garnered the help of local fishing communities, government officials, and international organizations, see additional details here.
6:30PM Tyranny Unmasked: The Townshed Acts in Britain, Ireland and America. Stop by the Old South Meeting House at 310 Washington Street for the Free Lowell Lecture Series presented by the Paul Revere Memorial Association. This year our annual fall lecture series examines Boston’s reaction to the Townshed Acts, upon their 250th anniversary.
