As part of its Article 80, Large Project Review, process for the North Bennet Street School development at 150 North Street & 130-140 Richmond streets, the Boston Redevelopment Authority hosted a community meeting on Monday night at the Nazzaro Center. BRA’s Casey Hines started the meeting followed by comments from Miquel Gomez-Ibanez, NBSS President, and Yanni Tsipis of the commercial development firm, Colliers International.
The project was well-received by the participants at the meeting, with no vocal objections, to join the two buildings with a glass connector on the upper floors above the existing garage that will become the main entrance. A canopy will top off the addition at the same height of the existing buildings on each side.
Although this is the first time the design has been presented publicly, the plan has already been well vetted in the North End through the NBSS cash/swap agreement with the City of Boston that is allowing for a phased expansion of the John Eliot School into the existing NBSS properties.
The complete design presentation and discussion are shown in the above video. Comments can be emailed to the BRA at casey.hines.bra@cityofboston.gov. The comment period is open until October 16, 2012.
