The Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) hosted their annual playground celebration and clean-up in preparation for the summer season on Saturday, May 4th. Lots of families came out to take advantage of the free children’s activities including touch-a-truck firetruck, storytelling, pizza (donated by Benevento’s) and more. The tot lot at Columbus Park was recently allocated $1 million in the City of Boston budget to fund a complete renovation including play structure, safety surfacing, fencing, lighting, site furnishings, pathway repairs, drainage, signage and green infrastructure to mitigate future sea level rise. The State House also included $250,000 in earmarked funding for additional climate resiliency at Christopher Columbus Park. FOCCP is currently offering a discounted $35 family membership program via their website. Enjoy these action photos of the playground celebration by photographer Gerri Palladino.
