Historic Neighborhood Photo: JFK Campaigning in the Prado

With the anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s birthday earlier this week, it seemed fitting to feature this photo of his congressional campaign in the North End in June of 1946.

At only 29 years old and with little political experience, JFK was running on the idea of youthfulness and change. He focused on organizing parties to meet with supporters, as well as neighborhood tours, such as the one shown in the photo above.

Ultimately, it worked! This campaign was the first big victory in his trajectory toward the White House, which came about fourteen years later.
