On Thursday, August 17, 2017, NEW Health hosted its annual North End Jamboree with the Nazzaro Center. The event was held in conjunction with National Health Center Week; a weeklong celebration where health centers across the country hold events to bring awareness to the work they do. The day included a barbecue, entertainment, and activities.
NEW Health CEO, Jim Luisi’s, is set to take his new position at the National Association of Community Health Centers this upcoming Sunday. In honor of this, kids at the Nazzaro Center wrote and performed a play about Jim, depicting how wonderful he is and how important the health center is to the neighborhood. Following the play, NEW Health staff helped judge a poster contest for the kids. Earlier in the week the kids learned about some of the dangers of using alcohol and tobacco; they then created PSA posters to help warn friends and family of the dangers as well.
Along with the Health Center, members of the North End community came together to make the day a success. Staff of the North End’s Eagle Bank attended the event and helped pass out ice cream that they had donated. Mike’s Pastry in the North End also donated a cake to help congratulate Mr. Luisi on his new position. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped to make the event another great success.
