Action for Boston Community Development’s North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center toasts “buon appetito!” as corporate sponsors and friends of ABCD gather for the sixth annual “Buona Sera – An Evening with Friends” fundraiser on Thursday, October 6, 2016.
The evening kicks off as BSO and WGBH radio personality Ron Della Chiesa emcees a Wine Reception from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at WilmerHale, located at 60 State Street, 26th Floor, Downtown Boston.
“Embraced both by the residents and the businesses of the North End community, Buona Sera has been highly successful in raising funds for the vital services provided by our North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center,” said ABCD President/CEO John Drew. “As friends and supporters of ABCD gather for spirits and good food, they also bring awareness to the struggles that a many seniors who live on fixed incomes deal with. We want the elder residents of the North End, West End, and Greater Boston to continue to have a place to gather, connect with neighbors, and learn of the many ABCD programs and resources that can promote self-sufficiency.”
Following the reception, Dinner begins at 7:30 p.m., as sponsors pair up with a selected local politician or celebrity, and feast at one of several premiere North End or Boston Waterfront restaurants including:
- Antico Forno
- Aria Trattoria
- Boston Sail Loft
- Ristorante Euno
- La Famiglia Giorgio’s
- Ristorante Saraceno
- Vinoteca di Monica

Founded in 1964, the ABCD North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center meets the specific needs of low-income residents in the North End and West End, where the majority of its residents are elderly; have fixed incomes below the poverty line; and possess little formal education.
Since the center’s founding, more than 50,000 clients have passed through its doors and are provided with vital and free services such as case management for the homebound, housing and fuel assistance, food programs, English and computer classes, social networks and events, and much more.
ABCD is grateful for our neighborhood advocates and sponsors. Through your generosity and continued support, the North End/West End NSC and other ABCD sites can further promote innovative programs and resources for residents in need.
