NOTICE OF JOINT COMMUNITY MEETING TO DISCUSS NEW RETAIL CONSTRUCTION PROPOSED AT 198 HANOVER STREET – THURSDAY 9/1, 7PM, NAZZARO CENTER
198 Hanover Street is located on Cross Street, between Hanover and Salem Streets, at the gateway to the North End. The proposed development encompasses the current 53 Salem Street (four story residential/ retail) and 64-66 Cross Street (one story retail, also known as the former location of Martignetti’s)
The new owners, Charter Realty and Development, are proposing to replace the current building with a new one story structure, with a higher roofline than 64-66 Cross Street but without the residential units currently in 53 Salem Street. The new plan is within zoning guidelines and height limits.
Although Charter Realty does not need any variance or other relief for their construction, they are interested in getting community buy-in to their plan and approach. Charter Realty has already made presentations at NEWRA and NEWNC, but both discussions left unanswered questions. Recognizing this, they have agreed to have another meeting with our community. This meeting will last about one hour, starting with a 15 minute developer presentation and continuing with a longer Q&A session with our community. All are invited to attend.
