The Boston Licensing Board appears set to approve a beer and wine license for Warren Mustacchio‘s new pizza shop, Ben Cotto, at 361 Hanover Street, according to an update at Universal Hub. The location on the corner of Fleet Street is where Circle Pizza operated for over 50 years until the year 2000. The site was more recently a 1-800-Flowers shop.
The proposed name “Ben Cotto” translates from Italian into “Well Done“. It is not clear whether the Licensing Board actually has any spare alcohol licenses to award at this time. In such a case, the applicant reapplies on a monthly basis in the hope that one become available (or purchases one to transfer).
Last summer, both neighborhood groups supported this proposal by Warren Mustacchio and Joe Bono (Al Dente and Benevento’s) for a 40-seat pizzeria with closing hours of 11pm weekdays and 12pm on weekends. UHub noted support at the Licensing Board hearing from the District 1 City Councilor Sal LaMattina along with several at-large city councilors.
