74 Commercial Street Receives Neighborhood Council Support to Enclose Outdoor Deck

74 Commercial Street presented an application for zoning relief to enclose the shown outdoor deck.

Francine and Jim Gannon of 74 Commercial Street received unanimous 8-0 support from the North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) on May 11, 2015 for their application of zoning relief to enclose an outdoor deck.

As explained by in the above meeting video, the owners are attempting to resolve leaks and snow removal issues during winter. The intended enclosure will be transparent and primarily made of glass similar to a sunroom.

Letters of support from abutters were presented to NEWNC and similarly voiced at the meeting.

NEWNC is advisory to the City of Boston Zoning Board of Appeal that will make the final determination.

Correction: This post was edited to remove a statement referring to a “no objection” position on this issue by the North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association. As of this date, NEWRA has not yet heard this application.
