North End Fish Market Wins Good Neighbor Recognition Award

The Good Neighbor Recognition Award for November 2014 was awarded to the North End Fish Market, also known as Mercato del Mare, at 99 Salem Street in Boston’s North End. Receiving the award were owners Keri Cassidy and Liz Ventura with Chef Chris Lin. The award was presented by Recognition Committee Chair Janet Gilardi of the North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA).

Keri and Liz opened the market in 2008, filling the seafood gap in the North End. Since then it has been providing not only fresh local seafood, but also sushi rolled to order by Chef Chris Lin. The market has become a staple for foodies and home cooks as well as those who prefer to let them do the cooking offering an array of prepared seafood items and sushi. Equally popular are their free oyster shucking lessons offered every Saturday, learn to shuck and just pay for your oysters. For more information, check out their website.

The monthly award is voted by NEWRA’s Executive Committee and presented to local businesses, organizations and property owners that consistently keep the areas around their property clean of trash and debris.
