The Nazzaro Center art students, under the direction of art instructor Josephine Lepore, were participants in this year’s Lions Club International Peace Poster Contest for 2014-15. Overseen by Mary DiMasi and Tyler Keegan, Boston area officials, the Boston Host Lions Club sponsored this contest and more than 50 students of the Nazzaro Center in all age groups over a period of 6 weeks submitted a colored or black and white pencil poster centering on the themes of peace, love and understanding and the winners were announced on December 5th at the center.
The winning entries were submitted by Ashley DiForte in the 11-15 age group and, in the 7-10 year old division, Fiona Duncan and John D’Amico tied for 1st. Also placing, showing and winning honorable mentions in both age groups were Emma Perez, Paige Fitzgerald, Maya Riley, Jackie Gallarelli, John Paul Anderson, Nicolette, Teti, Helena Fountas, Jesse Sablone, Mimi Mendoza, Alyssa Gonzalez, Evan Frechette, Mariel DiPrizio, Mia Ransom, Neveah Boucher andMichelle Sheehan.
All the entries will be on display at City Hall through March 6th. Quite an honor for all the young men and women who participated. And being within walking distance of City Hall, most of the Nazzaro families should have no trouble organizing a little family time on an excursion to view these masterpieces.
