Events This Week: Waterfront Planning, Connect Historic Boston, Replacement of Stolen Firefighters Boot, NEAD Bingo, Old North Gala and More!

This weeks events kick off with several meetings pertaining to the neighborhood. Starting with NEWRA ZLC’s monthly meeting, followed by Downtown Waterfront Municipal Harbor Planning Advisory Committee and Connect Historic Boston Meetings.  The North End Library will be hosting a film about love and a girls book club. After the last one was stolen and damaged, Suffolk University’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon will be replacing the firefighter boot at the Hanover Street firehouse. Don’t miss out on the fun at Old North’s gala and win some great prizes at the NEAD bingo fundraiser next weekend! 6:00pm Connect Historic Boston Public Meeting at City Hall, Room 801
A Public Hearing will be held by the City of Boston Public Works Department to discuss the proposed Connect Historic Boston project that is being funded through a Federal Highway Administration Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) Grant.

10:00 New Mom Groups Meeting Thursdays at Nazzaro Center, 30 N. Bennet St.
A free drop-in, new Mom group is meeting on Thursday mornings for first time mothers. All are welcome, must have a Nazzaro membership ($10/year). The groups are hosted by Meghan Warner, Birth Doula. View Post

NorthEndWaterfront-2014-02-06-at-4.22.05-PM1:30pm Sigma Alpha Epsilon Chapter at Suffolk University to Replace Stolen Firefighters’ Boot
The ΣΑΕ fraternity at Suffolk University worked with Metal Tronics Inc. to make a new Firefighters’ Boot to replace the one that was stolen last year from the Hanover Street Engine 8 / Ladder 1 station. The longstanding “Fill the Boot” collection supports the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). The fire boot and empty lock box was found floating in the water fountain on the Prado / Paul Revere Mall. This year’s Gala will feature a cocktail reception with a food station, hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar. There will be a silent auction and enjoyable raffles! Ticket price is $75 per person. The theme for the 2014 Gala is Picture This, a pictorial celebration of the history of Old North Church and the North End. The audio-visual resources at the Fairmont will allow for a picture slide show of Old North and the North End. If anyone has and is willing to share any old or historic photos of our church or the North End please contact the church office (congregation@oldnorth.com).
