New on Hanover Street: Aria Trattoria [Photos]

Early reviews have called Aria Trattoria one of the most romantic restaurants in the North End. Open for just over a month, I stopped in to get a first hand look at the new creation by Massimo Tiberi. Well-known in the neighborhood as managing nearby establishments such as Tresca, he completely changed the former space occupied by Marco’s into something completely his own. The intimate environment includes a fireplace, decorated wooden doors, white-washed brick walls and many artistic touches. He shares credit for the design and artwork with Joanne Ciampa.

I found Massimo at Aria surrounded by family and excited to talk about the menu he describes as traditional Italian, with a modern flair.  Standing out on the menu is “Fare un Viaggio” described as a “delectable voyage through Italy” where diners are encouraged to “indulge your adventurous side and enjoy the ride.” Massimo also suggested the Abbruzzese style Porchetta as a favorite. Menu selections are created by Consulting Chef Jason Tucker and Chef Clayton Goncalves.

Aria Trattoria is located at 253 Hanover Street, 617-742-1276, AriaNorthEnd.com.
