Video: North End Public Safety Meeting, October 3, 2013 at the Nazzaro Center, North End, Boston

Boston Police Captain James Hasson has been assigned to BPD District A-1 (North End / Waterfront, Charlestown, Chinatown, Beacon Hill and Downtown Boston) replacing Captain Thomas Lee who recently resigned to take the Chief of Police position in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. The announcement was made at the October 3rd North End Public Safety Meeting, chaired this month by Officer Teddy Boyle.
Captain Hasson comes from District E-5, West Roxbury / Roslindale, with 25 years on the Boston Police force and 9 years as a Captain. He was previously assigned to the North End as a lieutenant years ago under former Captain Bernie O’Rourke. Hasson is expected to be at the November 7, 2013 North End Public Safety Meeting (6:30 pm, Nazzaro Center, 30 N. Bennet St.).
For the October 2013 meeting, Sgt. Lema was traveling so Officer Teddy Boyle reviewed the last 30 days of crime statistics in the North End (see 2:10 in video).
After a Q&A period with residents (13:15 in video), two local political candidates addressed the group:
- City Councilor At-Large candidate, Martin Keogh (37:00)
- District 1 City Council candidate, Brian Gannon (43:50)
I know Captain Hassan from both his work here previously when he participated in Ski Trips with North End Against Drugs and with his work in E-5.
Welcome back!
