A child was rescued from Boston Harbor at Christopher Columbus Park on Saturday night around 8 pm from a possible fall around low tide. Catherine captures this photo of the police boat rescue and heard the child crying (good sign).

Manhole Cover Blows Off in Front of Lewis Wharf
Boston Fire Department responded around 5:30pm on Sunday when a manhole cover blew off in front of Lewis Wharf at Atlantic Avenue and Commercial Streets along the waterfront in Boston’s North End. Witnesses report a loud crash. No injuries were apparent. Photo by Jennifer Crampton.

My comments don’t speak to this particular incident; I don’t know the details.
People are so dumb. Every time I go through the park, I see parents taking pics of their toddlers swinging on the chains. I see grandmothers balancing infants on the ballasts for pics by the mothers.
Do they really need to be told that they are on the edge of an *ocean*? Is this Darwinism at play?
Imagine years ago when my kids were growing up-no link fence at all! it was almost wide open. I am still cautious now with my grandkids. I, too, see many small children dangling over the side! Keep the kids safe, I say!

How long before someone proposes a 4 ft. high chain link fence? Think of the children!
