HazMat Incident at Commercial Wharf West

Boston Fire responded to a gas alarm earlier today at Commercial Wharf West, the building with the Golden Goose. The block was evacuated for a short time. Boston Fire’s tweets tell the story (read in reverse order).

BostonFire – Gas turned out to be forane. Building was ventilated and turned over to property owner at 1:00 pm. There were no injuries.

BostonFire – Haz Mat firefighter technicians found a compressor leaking a gas used for large refrigerator units for the restaurant/deli. Leak was stopped.

BostonFire – Initial investigation found an unknown gas present in the basement. Incident elevated to a Level 2 Haz Mat response. Building was evacuated.

BostonFire – The building has several businesses such as a gym, law firm, hair salon and a restaurant/deli. Apartments are on the upper 3 floors.

BostonFire – Boston Fire called to 10 Commercial Wharf West at 10:11 am for a gas alarm activated. Building is a 4 story granite and brick structure.
