North End Book Launch Event Wed., July 22nd at Old North Church

Alex Goldfeld will launch his new book about the North End this week at the Old North Church on Wednesday, July 22 at 6:30 pm. The book is titled, North End: A Brief History of Boston’s Oldest Neighborhood.

northendbookalexgoldfeld-1The author will share a few stories from his history of the North End followed by Q&A with the audience. The Old North Gift Shop will be open, and the author will be signing copies of his book. Classic North End refreshments will be served. Be out in time for the Sox game or dinner and a stroll in the North End — the program and book signing will end by 7:30 p.m.

This event is hosted by the Old North Foundation and cosponsored by the Boston African American National Historic Site. Free and open to the public.

A brief description from the author’s website: At just under 200 pages, this brief and engaging history of Boston’s North End begins in 1630 and continues to the present day. The author made extensive use of diaries, town records, original maps, and similar primary materials while writing the book, which also contains 92 portraits, photographs, maps, and other illustrations. The extraordinary people and colorful events chronicled in The North End will delight visitors to Boston and surprise local history buffs with new information.
