State Rep. Candidates Forum Brings Out A Crowd

On Thursday, May 7, a crowd of approximately 200 people showed up at a State Representative Candidates Forum before the May 19 primary election. The event was co-sponsored by the North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association and the League of Woman Voters.

The four Democratic contenders debated the issues at the Marriott Long Wharf Hotel. The Democratic primary is the only competitive race because there is just one candidate representing the Republican party, David Trumbull, in addition to one Independent candidate, John Keith.

The candidates speaking included Aaron Michlewitz, Susan Passoni, Lucy Rivera and Brian Ross before a North End & Waterfront audience.

Questions were selected by the non-partisan League of Woman Voters, starting with big picture statewide concerns, such as the budget deficit and transportation system and gradually focusing on neighborhood concerns around the proposed Harbor Garage and Government Center Garage Redevelopments.
