Year-round Street Sweeping Pilot Program
Boston’s recently appointed Commissioner of Public Works, Joanne Massaro, will speak to the community about the City’s pilot program to extend mechanical street sweeping through the winter months in the North End/Waterfront.
Zoning and Licensing Applications
65 Salem Street (former location of Go Bananas), Paul Barker seeks to change the legal occupancy and use of the first floor from retail with take-out to restaurant with take-out. Plans call for 18-seat capacity.
19 Cooper Street, Matthew Sepe has filed an appeal for zoning variance(s) to change the legal occupancy from commercial (ground floor) and three residential units above to four residential units. Plans include conversion of the vacant ground floor commercial space to residential use for a studio apartment of 567 square feet. The units will be converted from rental apartments to condominiums.
Bricco Restaurant, 239-241 Hanover Street, Frank DePasquale has filed plans with the City of Boston Inspectional Services Department (ISD) to expand Bricco Restaurant into 251 Hanover Street, formerly Peter Nobile Insurance Agency, a building Mr. DePasquale recently purchased. The expansion plans would increase capacity of the restaurant from the current 120 seats to 170 seats (increase of 50 seats). The expansion space will include several tables and a new 12-seat bar; the bar in the existing restaurant space will remain. The owner plans to seek an amendment to the existing C.V. 7-day All Alcohol license (2 AM closing hour) once zoning approval is granted, in order to expand alcohol service into the new space.
588 Commercial St., Laz Parking, Todd Gilbert, Operations Manager has filed plans with the City of Boston Inspectional Services Department and seeks zoning relief to make several improvements to the existing parking lot at the corner of Commercial Street and Hull Street, including removal of existing sheds, construction of a new structure for parking attendant and equipment, new fencing around lot, and other parking improvements, some of which have already been constructed. The improvements will create 24-hour automated use of the lot.
