Lock Your Cars! Man Checking for Open Vehicles

NorthEndWaterfront 2015-11-05 at 8.06.15 PMEarly Wednesday morning, around 1-2 a.m., a man was seen checking open cars along Commercial Street, specifically in the parking lot between the Union and Lincoln Wharf buildings. Some open cars reportedly had property stolen.

Car owners should ensure their vehicles are locked and do not leave any valuables (GPS, coins, laptops, etc.) in sight. If you recognize the man in these videos or have any other information, please contact Boston Police District A-1 at 617-343-4240 or email Captain Fong kenneth.fong@pd.boston.gov.

Police Alert: Theft from Motor Vehicles

The Boston Police have issued a special alert regarding a dramatic increase in the number of thefts of property from motor vehicles. The North End/Waterfront is in Area A-1 which has experienced a 38% increase in theft. The police consider this a preventable crime, primarily caused by owners leaving valuables in sight (i.e., GPS, laptops, etc.).

BPD Offers Prevention Tips for Motor Vehicle Break-ins

 

From January 1, 2009 to July 1, 2009, statistics indicate that 5 out of 12 Boston Police Districts are reporting an increase in the number of Larceny from a Motor Vehicle. Seven districts have reported a decrease in the number of thefts from motor vehicles. This has resulted in a 6% increase of motor vehicle break-ins citywide.

  1. What this man is doing is wrong, but not locking up your car is a no-brainer!
    An unlocked car is an invitation for a crime to be committed.
