A spectacular Sunday night fireworks show (perhaps even better than July 4th) over Boston Harbor marked the Queen Mary 2’s evening departure from Boston to New York City for the final leg of her 175th Anniversary tour. The visit of Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 reflects on Boston as the company’s first port of call in the U.S. and the home of its first North American headquarters. The tour is to celebrate Cunard’s 175th worldwide anniversary with a commemorative Transatlantic Crossing that departed from Liverpool, England, paying tribute to the original voyage made by the company’s first flagship, Britannia, on 4 July 1840.
The photos below were taken from East Boston with the Queen Mary 2 on the left side of the fireworks. The Portuguese Navy Tall Ship Sagres, is on lighted tall ship to the right of the fireworks with Boston’s skyline to the far right.
YES, it was a spectacular sight to see QM2 so far into the inner harbor, so gloriously lit – AND with great fireworks…on a perfect-weather night!!!!!!
Spectacular photos of a spectacular fireworks display. Thank you for posting Matt. Must share. Nobody takes a picture like you.
We knew about the fireworks prior to the event thanks to your announcement. Too bad more news agencies did not give such a notice so that more could have enjoyed them. One couple, who got engaged that night, clebrated at the Living Room and loved the timing!
Matt, great picture of the Beautiful Queen Mary.
For true elegance and old world charm there is nothing like the Curnard Line. With that, there is nothing like seeing the world by sea, cruising is the “Numero Uno” way of travelling for me!
