Friends of the North End Library Present 2013 Honorary Friend Award to Al Natale [Photos]

For his many years of service to the North End Branch Library, Al Natale was presented with the 2013 Honorary Friend of the North End Library Award at a ceremony this week. The award was initially announced at the Friends’s Evening at the Show fundraiser.

A framed plaque was presented to Al Natale by President Emeritus Christine Bergstrom and Current President Robin Ardito. Robin spoke at the event about Al’s contributions to the library and community:

Al and his band have been mainstays at the annual Holiday Open House where he has offered his services for free and donated his pay back to the Friends to continue their works. He has also been a loyal patron of the branch. The Friends thank Al for his longstanding friendship with the North End Branch.

In thanking the group, Al noted how important the library and reading in general was to his success and happiness. Al Natale turns 90 this August, so the group also celebrated that event with a special cake at a reception following the award ceremony.
