Smoking at the Mirabella Pool

Mirabella Pool in Boston’s North End

This commentary recently came in from a Mirabella Pool regular that wants to raise the issue of smoking at the pool.

I am a North End resident and enjoy everything the North End has to offer including the beautiful pool. However, why is it that people think they can just smoke even though there are three huge NO SMOKING signs painted on the wall?

I said something to the person who takes the passes and she was very upset, telling me that it is City of Boston property and they should not be smoking. However, she also said the lifeguards have their hands full, which I totally agree with. So, it would be up to someone to either go up to these people who think it’s their own private pool and they can do what they want or disturb the person taking the passes.

There are so many little children around, plus people who just do not want to be breathing in second hand smoke while enjoying the pool and the harbor.

Can you write something in the your North End / Waterfront News to get the message that NO SMOKING goes for everybody in the pool area?

So, that is the issue. Now, let’s hear from you in the poll below.

  2. I’m sorry but I have to ‘ka-vetch’ here as to the “smoking/no smoking policy” at the North End pool, opps, Mirabella Pool. I have been attending this pool since (for those who remember) “Eddie Waters & Mack” ran the show. My children learned to swim there & now in their 50’s+ still go there(before ‘membership’ was required).

NOW–we have new residences’ coming in telling us how to conduct our behavior according to their standards. TO SMOKE OR NOT TO SMOKE IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! If you are offended, go else where. But we WILL NOT allow you to come into the ‘North End Pool’ and harass our long-time residence & Senior citizens.

If you object to the scenery, the smell, the noise, rude behavior (which does NOT concern you) or what ever; PLEASE feel free to move on & move out! OR, just shut up & mind your own business!
    PS
LOL–and now I read some “newies” are throwing beer bottles off a roof on Hanover St. Talk about BAD BEHAVIOR!!!!!!

    1. THE NORTH END HAS BEEN OUT OF CONTROL FOR
FAR TOO MANY YEARS. THE ONLY HOPE WE HAVE
IS THAT THE PEOPLE WHO ARE CAUSING THESE
DISRUPTIONS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD HAVE TO
BE FINED WHETHER THEY LIVE HERE OR NOT.

LANDLORDS ARE BEING SUED FOR DRUNKS GOING
ON THEIR ROOFS AFTER SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED
ON THE ROOF DOOR THAT NO ONE SHOULD BE
ON THE ROOF UNLESS THERE IS AN EMERGENCY.

ROOF DECKS HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM FROM THE
VERY BEGINNING AND ANYONE THROWING BOTTLES
OFF OF ROOFS AT OUR POLICEMAN SHOULD BE
FINED & BE SUBJECT TO COMMUNITY SERVICE.

THIS GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD OF OURS HAS TURNED
INTO A CROSS BETWEEN SODOM & GOMORRAH AND THE VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED.

LET US SEE HOW LONG IT TAKES FOR OUR
POLITICIANS TO COME UP WITH AN ORDINANCE NOW.
