The weather was perfect for the North End Athletic Association Opening Day Youth Baseball League on Saturday, April 28, 2012. This year, the ceremonies included a heartfelt dedication to the late Robert “Bobby” Simboli. Friends and relatives of Bobby Simboli took part in the ceremonies including his son who threw out the first pitch. Langone Park on Commercial St. in Boston’s North End was packed for the BBQ and Opening Day ceremonies, officiated by Baseball Coordinator John Romano. Following the ceremonies, a Majors double header was played with the Cubs vs. Tigers and the Cardinals vs. Indians. Earlier in the day, the Minor League Mudcats took on the Muckdogs while the Bats played the Grasshoppers. More information on NEAA at NEAABaseball.org.
