The North End Christmas tree at the corner of Cross and Hanover Streets has arrived. There is no lighting event this year, but the tree is fully decorated for the season.
The tree, along with wreathes and other decor for the Cross St. plaza, is organized by the North End Beautification Committee. The North End and Waterfront are starting to look quite festive, with the annual Columbus Park trellis lighting also taking place earlier this week.

Generally speaking, these various committees tend to do an excellent job with beatification in the neighborhood. I’m at a loss, however, to understand why there is a tree in FRONT of Paul Revere. Could this tree have been BEHIND Paul? The tree placement messes up, perhaps, one of the most iconic photos that a visitor can take. Just sayin’.
The tree on Cross Street looks really pretty! Very festive.
I love the North End at Christmas. One thing I really miss is the big light garlands up and down Hanover St. I just loved to look down Hanover St at 5 in the morning before the world got up.
