The Piarosa Group is seeking to amend conditions on an existing license at 123-125 Salem St., formerly La Galleria 33, to change its closing hour from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and to add a small bar inside the premises.
The petition was heard by the North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) at their November meeting. The council voted 8-1 in support of the changes.

(1:05) The changes include the change to 1 a.m. closing time and an altered floor plan to add a small bar on the left-side of the floor plan with 12-15 seats. The business would still be restaurant forward, it’s not a bar. It is the same group who operated Forcella at 33 North Square.
(1:58) NEWNC President Brett Roman confirmed with the presenters that nothing on the outside of the building would be changing.
(2:23) Damien DiPaola from the Council gave a statement that this family has been part of the neighborhood for a long time and they run Forcella very well. He supports the petition. Vice President John Pregmon added that Forcella has operated without any incidents.
(3:40) Tania Green asked if the alleyway with the gate is part of the building’s property, which it is. She requested that the gate be closed and locked to eliminate drug use in the alley.
NEWNC voted 8 in support (Pregmon, Natale, DiPaola, Faller, Green, Guarino, Leo, Salbati) and 1 opposed (Marie Simboli).

“Small bar”…how are we defining “small” these days?
Looks as though small = 12-15 seats for this restaurant.
