Tuesday’s Brief: Pazza on Porter to Open Next Week, Story Time, Crafty Ranger, Italian Heritage Month

Today is Tuesday, October 1 and that means it’s the start of Italian Heritage Month! Read a full list of activities to participate in here.

Here’s what else you need to know for today…

10:30AM Toddler Story Time. Stop by the North End Library and listen to stories, sing songs, and learn together through movement and play. This story time is ideal for little ones who have started walking or moving on their own.

11:00AM Baby Story Time. Stop by the North End Library and enjoy gentle stories, songs, and lap bounces for pre-walking babies and caregivers.

3:30PM Crafty Ranger with a Boston Harbor Islands Ranger. Stop by the North End Library and learn about the Boston Harbor Islands and the duties of a park ranger, and make an earth-friendly craft. Ideal for kids 9-12 years old. Call the library at 617-227-8135 for more information.

6:00PM Italian Heritage Month Kickoff at State House. Stop by the House Chamber on the 3rd floor of the State House for the annual kickoff where Coro Dante will be performing the American and Italian national anthems and other musical selections. Pazza on Porter is set to open next week in the same space that once housed Craft Table & Bar on Porter Street in East Boston. The Italian-American lounge and patio is now accepting limited reservations beginning October 9, read more on Boston Magazine.

Wednesday, October 2

3:00PM Kids’ LEGO Club. Drop by the North End Library after school to build whatever you can imagine using LEGOs and DUPLOs.

4:00PM BTU Homework Help. The Boston Teachers Union sponsors a Homework Helper program in each of the Boston Public Library branches. The BTU provides a teacher to help children with their homework for free.

6:00PM Parcel 2 Meeting Three: Concept Design Options. The Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and the Greenway Conservancy, invites you to the third public meeting for the Parcel 2 Park Design process, see additional information here.

Thursday, October 2

11:00AM Mah Jongg Club. Stop by the North End Library and play the American-style variant of this tile-based game that originated in China and requires skill, strategy, and calculation. Beginners are welcome. No sign up is required. Weekly on Thursdays in October.

5:00PM North End Neighborhood Night. North Street Grille will, once again, be hosting “Neighborhood Night” on the first Thursday of each month with 50% of sales going to support North End Neighborhood nonprofit agency programs, see additional information here.

5:30PM ABCD Buona Sera: An Evening With Friends. Stop by 60 State Street for an evening with friends. All dollars raised will support educational and social services for the seniors and families of the North End, West End, and Beacon Hill, see additional information here.

6:00PM North End Public Safety Meeting. Stop by 30 North Bennet Street for the North End Public Safety Meeting.
