Polcari’s Coffee on the corner of Salem and Parmenter Streets in the North End was recently featured on the YouTube channel OnlyGood TV.
Shop owner Bobby Eustace narrates this 8-minute video where he talks about the history of the 87-year-old shop. Eustace took over the shop from Ralph Polcari, son of the founder, Anthony Polcari. The shop has a unique, historic feel to it, and Eustace makes sure to keep it that way, even replacing a 100-year-old scale not with a modern one, but with another antique version.
“I feel like I’m a museum keeper… when things aren’t too perfect they’re beautiful.” – Bobby Eustace
Bruce Alba, owner of Alba Produce just a few doors down on Parmenter Street, is a boyhood friend of Bobby’s. About Eustace taking over the coffee shop from Polcari Alba says, “You couldn’t find a better person to leave it to, it was a good mix.”

Great interview with a great guy thank you
That was really enjoyable! A wonderful store and a very happy success story. Thank you.
Bobby, what a great interview and story well done. Very proud of my friend.
Polcari’s is one of the few original North End treasures that are still standing.Great story.
I love that place! I love the smell when you walk in. Bobby has the nicest personality. I have seen how nice he is with the tourists. Polcari’s is a North End treasure!
Nice to see that a part of the original North End is still as it was during my early days. During my visits to Boston/North End roots it is always a pleasure to drop in and greet Bobby , as it was to see Ralph, Mary or Anhony and their parents before that. So many changes around him, As someone earlier said, there is no one better to carry on a true North End legacy. Stay well. Vince (North Carolina).
