I can figure how he got the truck in there, but how did he get out?
Talk about getting out of a tough spot.
Straight down North, right on Lewis but…that’s a very tough turn.
I’ve seen big vehicles try Lewis St and then have to back all the way out. I didn’t think trailers that large were allowed in the North End. I’ve seen hem rip quarter panels off cars parked on the corners. They made them stop sending the Boston Trolleys and tour busess into the neighborhood. I’ll bet blocking cars wasn’t this guy’s biggest problem.
If trailers that large are allowed in the NE ? That needs to be addressed and stopped.
These SYSCO tractor trailers are a regular occurrence in the NE, several times a week if not every day! The truck in the photo drove past two large signs at North & Cross Streets that read “No Trucks and Buses”. Since the trucks are too big for legal loading zones, they double park on North and use it as a staging area for multiple surrounding merchants, often left unattended for over an hour. There needs to be an enforced ban on tractor trailers for all NE streets, with smaller delivery trucks restricted to designated Commercial Loading Zones.
Dan G, it seems that there are a number of neighborhood issues involving enforcement or more accurately lack of enforcement. There is absolutely no excuse or justification for allowing what you described in your comment.
I guess we’ll have to wait until there are fatalities in a fire and rescue can’t get to the scene.
T, I can never understand human nature. If there is a story about a bag of trash left out on the sidewalk everybody and their brother is up in arms and want to form a lynch mob. Yet a story like this that affects everyone who lives here generates only a handful of comments.I don’t get it?
It was a great use of 311. Just hope we are not referring back to this one in the future asking why.
