Landmarks Hearing on Nazzaro Center set for Tuesday, February 12

The Boston Landmarks Commission will take up a petition to protect the North End’s Nazzaro Center building (30 N. Bennet St.) on Tuesday, February 12 at 6 pm. The meeting will be held at Boston City Hall, 1 City Hall Plaza, Boston. The public hearing will be in room 900, on the 9th floor.

Residents are welcome to attend and speak about the Nazzaro Center and the open space of the Polcari Playground.

Those unable to attend can send letters to Rosanne Foley at rosanne.foley@boston.gov. Boston Landmarks Commission. Letters received by February 12 will be entered into the record at the hearing.

The Landmarks Commission’s decision will be based on the Nazzaro building’s architecture and history. If granted, protection would not prevent interior renovation, changing its uses, or ownership. These issues are not part of the Landmarks process and will not be on the hearing agenda.

  1. Please save the Nazzaro Center, it has been here since before I was born & I’m going to be 73 this year. The architecture is what has to be looked at. Why can’t just the inside of the building be rehabbed & leave the outside facade like they did at the old power house on Commercial St when it was turned into condos?
