Sixty discounted parking spaces at the Parcel 7 Haymarket Garage were dedicated to North End residents during and after the Big Dig as mitigation for lost parking elsewhere in the neighborhood. The City’s year-long parking pilot has found increased meter pricing to be the most effective strategy to reducing congestion, improving parking availability, and increasing roadway safety. Renderings have been released for the redevelopment of Dock Square Garage at 20 Clinton Street in the Bulfinch Triangle. The proposed project would add a 10-story, 253,000-square-foot spiral-shaped construction atop the garage containing 195 for-sale condominium residences, expanding the garage to 17 stories and 209 feet tall as well as 535,000 square feet in size. After months of negotiations, an agreement between Harbor Garage owner, Chiofaro Company, the New England Aquarium and the City of Boston was released last Friday. The agreement details terms between the three parties that will allow for a tower up to 600 feet (900,000 square feet capacity) at the water’s edge while securing permanent parking for the Aquarium and indemnifying it from losses during construction. On the evening of February 15, the North Bennet Street School atrium was magically transformed into a Valentine Coffee House hosted by the Friends of the North End Library. Last Saturday, Families Facing Addiction and Children of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (COASA) hosted an ice skating party at Steriti Rink to celebrate Children of Addictions Week with families and friends from all over the state.
