No Trash or Recycling Pickup on Christmas Day, December 25; Next Pickup Dec. 29

City of Boston Trash and Recycling collection will be CANCELLED in all sections of the City, including the North End / Waterfront, on Christmas Day (Monday, December 25). The next collection will be on Friday, December 29th. 

For New Year’s Day, there will be trash, recycling and a special tree pickup on Monday, January 1, 2018.

Ed: I think we can all predict how this is going to work out, so here is the how to report your trash complaints to 311 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week)

  • CALL – Dial 311 within Boston city limits. You can also call 617-635-4500.
  • USE THE WEBSITE – Available online at Boston.gov/311.
  • USE THE APP – Download the app for iOS or Android.
  • TWEET – Tweet a request @BOS311 with  information, location and a photo.
  • Call 911 for public safety issues, police or fire.

    1. In your apartment or on your fire escape, OR feed the rats and risk a fine and put it on the street. We are all in the same boat.

  2. Fire escape works and the freezing air will keep odors at bay. (suggestion from a city girl where garbage companies went on strike quite often)

  3. Fire escape? Really? That a fire hazard. You should never have anything on a fire escape. In case of a fire.

    1. Look around the North End and you will see that people have plants on their fire escape and air conditioners in the windows that are on the fire escape! THAT is a fire hazard!
      In case of a fire I think it someone could move a trash bag out of the way. Not an ideal solution but better than a rat buffet or an apartment that smells like rotting fish from Christmas Eve.

  4. If we had 3 pickups a week we wouldn’t have to wait a week for trash and recycle pickup. Some say the trash will be on the street longer. well, this happens more now with 2 pickups instead of 3. trash on street monday, after a pickup is on the street til Friday. If there was still a wed. pickup it is only on the street monday night and tuesday night. I don’t see the logic. Bring back 3 days a week. PLEASE
