On Thursday August 10, Joi Salon and Spa at 2 Atlantic Ave held their 4th Annual Joi of Summer fundraising event. For the second year in a row, North End Against Drugs (NEAD) was the recipient of the funds collected.
There were great appetizers donated by The Living Room and an awesome raffle with prizes donated by the following businesses: Bellissimo Nail Salon, Capo Restaurant, Forge/Diesel/Bloc11 Cafes, Paddy’s Pub, I Am Books, Improv Asylum, Loft & Vine, MyStryde, The Golden Goose, Howl at the Moon, Starbucks, The Boston Sail Loft, Bricco Restaurant, Crudo Restaurant, LuLu’s Sweet Shoppe, RevitaLash, Joe’s Bar & Grille, Newbury Guest House, Unique Salon Concepts, Boston Madison Square Garden Club and Professional Salon Services.
Event attendees also had an opportunity to get mini spa treatments done by the phenomenal staff at Joi such as hairstyling or a spray tan. My wife, Patricia, got some cool beachy waves done by Briana!
Along with the event at Joi, Alison from In-Jean-ius set up a small pop-up stand at the salon and donated a percentage of her proceeds from the evening. Loft & Vine also donated a percentage of proceeds from any sale at their shop on the day of the event!
Several NEAD board members – Karen D’Amico, Patricia Romano, Olivia Scimeca, Ann Fitzgerald, Maria Lanza and John Romano – were in attendance to enjoy the festivities, support the event and renew the friendships we had made with the staff at Joi. Many thanks to all the Salon staff who donated their time to the event.
The event raised $2085 to help with NEAD programs, events and activities for the coming year.
“On behalf of the NEAD board of directors, I want to give a big shout out and thank you to Erica Harris, Joi Salon owner, and all of her staff – Christina Wilson, Amanda Leaman, Jensy Padilla, Molly Pare, Jade Federico, Briana Norwood, Tricia Dillon and Michelle Nolan, as well as Sarah Cooney of Loft & Vine, Alison Barnard of In-jean-ius, all the businesses who donated raffle items and also The Living Room for all their help and support,” stated NEAD President John Romano. “It was a truly fun night and we appreciate their continued support of the youth and families of the North End/Waterfront neighborhood.”

Thank you to Erica, her staff, and all those who came to support NEAD again this year. Your generosity to NEAD and the community is sincerely appreciated.
John, NEAD board member
