Boston Holocaust Memorial Vandalized; 21 Year-Old Suspect Arrested

One of the glass panels at the Boston Holocaust Memorial was shattered on Wednesday. Suspect James Isaac, 21, of Roxbury threw a rock at the glass pane at roughly 2 a.m. on Wednesday morning, according to Boston Police.

The glass panes make up the six 54-foot high towers for the memorial. Each pane is etched with the millions of numbers tattooed on those killed in the Holocaust.

Isaac was charged with willful destruction of property and willful damage to religious memorial. A Municipal Court judge revoked bail against Isaac on an unrelated assault case in Chelsea. He was wearing a GPS monitoring device at the time of his arrest.

Extra glass panels were made at the time the memorial was built in 1995. A newly etched panel is expected to replace the broken one.
