The North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) listened and voted to support the proposal by Melina DiPaola to open K.O. North End at 89 Salem Street, in one of three spaces recently vacated by True Value Hardware.

Excelsior Inc., d/b/a K.O. North End intends to operate a fitness center specializing in boxing and self-defense training including heavy bag classes, interval training, shadow boxing and strength work. Hours of operation will be from 6am-8pm, Monday through Saturday.

The build out will have sound-proofing installed to insulate music played in the fitness center. No televisions or other forms of media are planned.

Zoning relief is needed for a conditional use permit to operate a fitness center on the premises. NEWNC voted 6-0 in support of the request.
