The North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) gave unanimous support to Douglas X. Scire, petitioner at 23 Unity Street intending to add a first floor rear addition. The proposal was presented by Attorney Daniel Toscano.
The extension will be used for a new family room, extending in the rear of the property. The height of the addition is under 9 feet. The owner is also providing a second egress to a neighboring property (47 Tileston St.) into Salem Court at the rear.
The abutting Old North Church has an 11 foot high wall abutting the property. The new addition is not expected to interfere with its sight lines. Old North has provided a letter of support, according to Toscano.
After a brief discussion and no objections by attendees, the NEWNC voted unanimously to support the project.
