Christmas at the Nazzaro Center

T’was the week before Christmas, the week after Christmas and all points in between that the Nazzaro Center celebrated the holidays with activities, field trips and special events of the season for its members and their families.

As a warm-up activity, the Nazzaro members, staff and families once again played a prominent role in the 46th annual NEAA Christmas Parade by playing virtually all the characters in this unique community tradition.

On the eve to the holidays, both the Nazzaro Dance Team and Drama Club put on productions at the center, the Wang Citi-Lites brought a special inert-active reading of “Frosty the Snowman” to the Nazzaro, all leading up to the traditional party and visit from Santa where every member received a gift, all the (Umberto’s) pizza they could eat, candy drinks, ice cream and a magic show in the gym. One last event before the Big Day itself saw a screening of “Elf” in the gym, a first for the center and surely not the last.

And then for the days following the real visit from Santa, the center went swimming (at Charlestown High), ice skating (at our own Steriti Rink), Sky Zone, Mini-Golfing and to the Hanover Theater in Worcester for a fabulous production of “The Sound of Music”!

Of course, the center was still open for all its regular programming such as Small Fry Basketball and the Youth Program for both teens and pre-teens. The nearly month long celebration of Christmas present undoubtedly added to all the memories of Christmases past even as plans for Christmas future at the Nazzaro are not that far off.

  1. Great work! We in this neighborhood are so lucky to be able to partake in all that the Nazzaro Center does and offers. Thank you Carl Ameno!
