The Boston Lyric Opera (BLO) found the North End’s Steriti Skating Rink to be the perfect “big stage” space to rehearse for its much-anticipated production of CARMEN, coming to the Boston Opera House on September 23rd for two weeks.
We stopped in to find the Stage Director Joan Anton Rechi actively choreographing about 70 cast members along with staging that includes six vintage Mercedes Benz automobiles. The final production will recreate a 1970’s-era Spanish-controlled city in northern Africa complete with a towering bull and of course, a full orchestra with the instantly recognizable, iconic music of CARMEN. Order tickets online and take a look at are some scenes from the rehearsal and a short video clip above.
