Outdoor “Carmen” Opera Production by NEMPAC Amazes Public at Christopher Columbus Park [Photos]

An awe-inspired outdoor audience gave an enthusiastic response to the Sunday afternoon opera performance of Bizet’s Carmen by the North End Music and Performing Arts Center, NEMPAC, at Christopher Columbus Park.

Starring NEMPAC performers Alexandra Deitrich as Carmen, Fred VanNess as Don Jose, Laura Hansen as Micaela and Jeff Barth as Escamillo, along with a 20+ person cast and a 40 piece full orchestra.  Produced by the North End’s own Sherri Snow and Rebecca Rapoport-Cole with Giselle Ty, Thomas Enman, and Tiffany Chang, among several others.

The full opera production of Carmen at the park followed a staged performance on the previous Friday at St. Paul’s Cathedral that also met with rave reviews. (Did I mention the 40-piece orchestra?)

Take a look at the photos below and watch the full video recording of the performance can be viewed in this post.

  1. Enjoyed both productions but hope for a repeat in the Fall. At a more convenient location than the Cathedral. The music and performances are not to be missed.
