City Approves Jackson Avenue Occupancy Change

Neighborhood Groups Split Votes on Zoning Relief for 5 Jackson Avenue
Rendering of 5 Jackson Avenue with addition

Boston Inspectional Services Department (ISD) Board of Appeals has approved a request to change the legal occupancy at 5 Jackson Avenue from a two family to a one family building.

The plans call for a single story addition with a private roof deck, an elevator, a full sprinkler system and the building will not exceed 55 feet.

The request was supported by the North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) and opposed by the North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA). [See Neighborhood Groups Split Votes on Zoning Relief for 5 Jackson Avenue]

Several abutters supported the proposal, while two abutters that would be directly affected by the plan, opposed the project.
