State Representative Aaron Michlewitz addressed attendees at the June 9th meeting of the North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) regarding the expected closing of the North End Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Michlewitz expresses his initial thoughts on the effort to stop or delay the sale by Partners Healthcare, assist current nursing home residents and his expectations for the property as a community asset (i.e., not luxury condos) should the sale move forward.

Green Ticket Bill Needs Support

NEWRA’s Clean Streets Committee is asking residents and merchants to send in the following letter in support of the Green Ticket Bill to our State representatives. The Green Ticket Bill is an important step in improving the trash problem in the neighborhood.

Here is a summary of the House Bill #3588 (Green Ticket Bill) and testimony from the City’s Inspectional Service Department (ISD) that explains why the bill is so important. House Bill #3588 is anticipated to be favorably voted out of Committee but still has a bit to go.

There were plenty of neighborhood tidbits at this week’s North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) meeting, with an extended President’s report by Mark Paul and numerous committee reports.
