Charle Baker sent back the Mass. legislature’s bill to regulate and tax short-term rentals (AirBnb, Homeaway, VRBO, etc.) in the beginning of August after formal legislature sessions have concluded for the year. Dozens of neighborhood residents enjoyed the annual summer social gathering organized by the North End / Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA). With the high profile mayoral and city council elections coming up, many candidates and elected officials were also in attendance.
