Monday Night! North End Debate Between State Senate Candidates

Follow-up: Video from this debate can be viewed at this link.

The North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council is hosting a debate between the six candidates running for State Senate on April 4, 6:00 p.m. at the North Bennet Street School (150 North Street, North End, Boston).

This will be a true debate, not a forum, moderated by Peter Howe, former NECN-TV news anchor. NEWNC expects an audience of over 100 North End residents. The entire debate will be filmed and posted on NorthEndWaterfront.com.

Attending candidates at the forum will include Joseph Boncore, Lydia Edwards, Diana Hwang, Jay Livingstone, Dan Rizzo and Paul Rodgers. Candidates are vying to fill the First Suffolk and Middlesex district seat left open by the recent resignation of Anthony Pettruccelli. The district includes Boston’s North End / Waterfront, Beacon Hill, East Boston as well as Revere, Winthrop and parts of Cambridge. All candidates are running as Democrats with the Special State Primary Election set for April 12th.

Seats are limited and those interested should register now for free tickets at NEDebate.eventbrite.com.

  1. First we had the NEWRA sponsored Forum which attracted a large waterfront contingent. the Ward Three Democratic Committee is sponsoring a two hour candidates night on March 30 and then a NEWNC debate on April 4, can you say overkill?

    1. Since we don’t know how to say “good-bye” once they’re in office, vetting them thoroughly now seems right.

  2. At NEWNC, we believe asking candidates for public office to answer questions from voters is never overkill. Even if it requires them to come to the North End for a whooping third time.
