The 7th annual Santa Skate & Toy Drive took place at Steriti Rink in the North End on Saturday, December 12th. As holiday classics played during the free skating event, Santa and several volunteer helpers gathered an enormous pile of toys. Hot chocolate and cookies were enjoyed as people bought raffle tickets. The event was organized by Louis Strazzullo and sponsored by the North End Columbus Day Celebration Committee. All cash and toys go to the Italian Home for Children.
Kids and parents dropped off their gifts and headed over to the free skate rental (given when you bring an unwrapped gift) where they laced up their skates to get on the ice. In addition to Santa greeting guests, he also took a minute or two to hear wishes from kids who are eagerly looking forward to Christmas day!
