Boston Mayor Marty Walsh and the Office of Neighborhood Services (ONS) announced that Maria Lanza is the new neighborhood liaison for the North End, West End & Waterfront communities.
“Maria was born and raised in the North End and from a young age strived to be an active member in her community. We are grateful to have Maria join the Walsh administration.” said Jerome M. Smith, Chief of Civic Engagement, in a statement. Lanza replaces longtime neighborhood coordinator, Nicole Leo.
Maria’s first day at ONS will be Tuesday, June 16, 2015. As a result of her new ONS position, Maria has resigned from the North End / Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC).
Prior to joining the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services, she served as a community liaison to City Councilor At-Large Michael Flaherty. Maria is currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Political Science at UMASS Boston. In her free time enjoys coaching youth basketball at the Nazzaro Community Center.
Congratulations, Maria. Good luck in your new position.

MARIA, THE MAYOR COULDN’T HAVE MADE A BETTER CHOICE. GOD BLESS YOU. THE NORTH END NEEDS
YOU MORE THAN YOU WILL EVER KNOW.
Excellent choice by Mayor Walsh. I have known Maria since she was a child and have had the privilege of working with her on several neighborhood events and campaigns. I know first hand of her dedication and passion for our neighborhood. Congratulations Maria!
