The rain did not dampen the festivities for the annual Festa Della Repubblica Italiana that was moved inside to Filippo’s Ristorante instead of the usual Christopher Columbus Park.
Featuring Consul General of Italy, Nicola De Santis, the event was held to recognize the 69th Anniversary of the Italian Republic that falls on June 2, 2015.
Scholarships were awarded to students from multiple schools in the Boston area, including the North End’s Eliot School. Prizes were also given out to last week’s bocce tourney winners, Juventus Club Boston (1st), Inter Club Boston (2nd) and Friends of the North End Bocce (3rd).
Music played all day, with finale performances by Franco Corso, Giovanni Ferraro, Enzo Mannone and Loreto Marini. Comites and the Federazione Associazioni Italiane & Italo-Americane New England sponsored this year’s celebration.
