The Friends of the North End South celebrated their 7th annual reunion in Del Ray Beach Florida on Sunday March 1st. Seventy two North Enders convened at Coco Woods Community Center to dine and reminisce.
Victor Passacantilli read his narrative on North End nicknames, Ron Fuccillo read his poem of what it was like growing up in the North End and Gus Pesaturo read Nick DiMasi’s essay about what it was like to be a camper at Maplewood Caddy Camp. Paul Viscione and Joe Sarno recounted hilarious stories involving a couple of notorious North Enders. Gus Pesaturo reminisced about growing up on Hull Street and the strategic location of Snelling Place for the Sunday morning crap game.
Special thanks go to Camille and Louie Gilardi who started the Florida reunion 7 years ago. Camille is truly the driving force behind the success of the reunion with all the time and effort she puts in. Kudos are also in order for Diane Pesaturo who designed the map of the North End which was set atop the cake and Joanne and Charlie Coppola for their help with the reunion all winter long.
Everyone departed yet again with a sense of nostalgia and pride in a unique neighborhood, especially Patty and Nick LaRosa who were born, bred and still proudly reside in the North End.
