Friends of the North End Bocce Tournament Update

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe cool brisk Fall air was welcomed by the competitors as the second week of match play got underway. Although plenty of kibitzing was in order, the North Enders did not let up on their competitive instincts fighting and measuring for every point.

The new slippery bocce balls proved to be a challenge for most of the players with the exception of Angelo Di Girolamo formerly of Webster Place. He came through making many tough points for his teammates, Charlie Coppola and Sonny Lauretano. Commissioner, Sam Viscione, surprised the the members with his hand made Italian themed scoreboards affixed with the FRIENDS OF THE NORTH END logo. They were a long awaited addition replacing the old worn out and weather beaten scoreboards that were kept in the shed at the courts.

The Star of Week #2 was Angelo Di Girolamo.

The FRIENDS OF THE NORTH END BOCCE TOURNAMENT will continue on Sunday, September 28th.
